Automatic Electric (AE) Telephone from 1937.
Automatic Electric introduced the model 40. This Art Deco classic was a mainstay of the company for many years. Its clean crisp design was found from homes to boardrooms anywhere the independent phone companies operated.
If you have seen the movie "The Matrix" you will see one of these phones. The scene is about 3/4 of the way thru the movie. It appears in a scene where the three main characters are waiting to be rescued. The phone is sitting all by itself on a bare table. The phone is just like the one pictured here. The movie phone didn't have any of the optional brass or chrome trim. The phone we refurbish for you will be completely rebuilt. The bakelite has been polished to a like new shine. Most of these phones have had the original dial replaced with an upgraded dial. If you desire an original dial they are available for $20.00 additional. If you would like the nickle banded hand set and nickle dial they are available for $55.00 additional. There is also a brass fingerwheel available for an additional $ 15.00.
